António Jacinto, pseudonym Orlando Tavora, was born in 1924 in Portuguese, West Africa in what is now Angola. He was a poet, short-story writer and cabinet minister. Jacinto became involved in movements against Portuguese colonial rule, for which he was arrested 1961.
