A Survey of African Poetry in the London Times, Sunday Times, Financial Times, the Times Literary Supplement 1865-1985

In this letter to the editor, the author takes exception to certain terms applied to female poets, which he argues are infantilizing. The referenced female poets have been writing for several years and have produced numerous books, nevertheless, their work is still reviewed in language that suggests they have not fully arrived artistically. He compares this to the language used to review men's poetry.
