Excerpt

South African reflects the turbulence and confusion of a country where everything is being questioned as never before. Roy Campbell once said in a broad cast that South Africa repeated in exaggerated form the biblical story of the Tower of Babel whose builders, though united in purpose, were divided by language difficulties --to which South Africa (never exactly united in purpose) added the further complications of race, colour and cultural diversity.
