Excerpt: "As Angela Carter points out in her introduction to this volume of stories, the misbehavior of women has invariably been synonymous with sexual transgression - promiscuity and infidelity being construed throughout history as a woman's most serious crimes. The sin of many of the women in these stories is simply doing what they want to do...
