In Lagos, Nigeria, on December 21 1965, Wole Soyinka, who had been standing trial on a charge of robbery, was acquitted by Mr. Justice Kayode Eso, who suggested there was a material conflict in the evidence of the prosecution witnesses. Soyinka had claimed he was not in Ibadan at the time of the crime.
