Ashraf Dali (Ashraf Aboul Yazid) is an award-winning Egyptian poet, journalist, novelist and translator. Born in Banha, Egypt, in 1963, Dali is the author of five poetry collections written in Arabic. His works include Zakirat Al Samt (The Memory of Silence, 2016), Akira Al Farashat _(The Memory of Butterflies, 2005), _Fawqa Sirat Al Mawt (On the Passage of Death, 2001), Al Asdaf (The Shells, 1996), and Washwashat Al Bahr _(The _Whisper of the Sea, 1989). Dali’s work has been translated into several languages, such as Spanish, Turkish, Persian, Korean, Malayalam, Sindhi, and German. In 2014, he won the Manhae Prize in Literature and was the recipient of the Arab Journalism Award in Culture in 2015. He has translated more than thirty books into Arabic. Dali is the current president of the Asia Journalist Association and editor-in-chief of THE SILK ROAD literature series.
