Hamid Tibouchi was born in 1951 in Tibane, Algeria. He studied fine arts at the University of Paris VIII and earned his degree in 1983. He worked as a French-language assistant and English teacher before devoting himself to writing and producing visual arts. He is the author of over a dozen books of French-language poems, including Mer Ouverte and Soleil d'herbe. As a visual artist, he has presented sixty solo shows and nearly three hundred group exhibitions in France and around the world.
