Mohamed Sehaba was born in 1952 in Oran, Algeria. He is the author of several poetry collections in Algeria and in Paris, including Remparts, Chronique du Silence, and Les Chants de l’amant Oranais (Songs from the Oranais Lover) which explores the themes of abandonment and (dis)possession of nation and language, the power of names and naming, and the tensions inherent in the different possible paths forward for Algeria and its people. In addition to writing poetry, he worked as a cultural journalist for many years. He currently resides in Oran.
