Abdel-ilah Salhi was born in 1968 in Beni Mellal, Morocco. He earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in English literature. After moving to France in 1990, he engaged with the French literary scene and became acquainted with many Arab expatriate writers, including Iraqi poet Abdelkader Al Janabi. Through him, he joined the Arab surrealist circle in Paris. This inspired him to found his literary magazine, Israf (Excess), which influenced the prose poem and surrealism in Morocco. He works as a journalist and radio correspondent in France.
