Donald Parenzee was born in 1948 in South Africa. He earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Cape Town. He authored two poetry collections, Driven to Work and No Free Sleeping. He worked as an architect, teacher, and exhibitions curator at the District Six Museum, and ran creative workshops integrating literature and visual art. He participated in many initiatives opposing apartheid and racism throughout his lifetime. He died in 2022 in South Africa.
