Mawete Makisosila was born in 1955 in Angola. He is the co-author of Chants Polyphoniques Des Pogroms de Luanda, along with Makuzayi Massaki. He attended the Sorbonne in Paris and the School for Advanced Social Sciences, where he studied information and knowledge systems and anthropology, respectively. His father was active in the revolt against Portuguese rule. Makisosila went on to spend several years in exile in Kinshasa, Congo before returning to Angola to join the MPLA, a political party. He currently lives in France.
