Lokangaka Losambe was born in 1952 in Omutumba, Kasaï, Zaïre. Several of his poems have been published in the Tyume Fort Hare Journal of Creative Writing. He attended the National University of Zaïre for his BA and MA in English language and literature. He also earned his MEd from the University of Wales in 1979 and his PhD in African Literature from the University of Ibadan in 1983. Losambe's research interests include African-Anglophone literature, Pan-African literature, Black Atlantic literature, and postcolonialism. He is a professor of English at the University of Vermont.
