Bongasu Tanla Kishani was born in 1944 in Kitiiwum, Cameroon. His first poetry collection, Konglanjo (Spears of Love without Ill-fortune) (1988), was the recipient of the 1990 Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) award. In 2009, he published the volume of poems, A Basket of Kola nuts and Kpuà e Goè’ e Njeèm is his collection written in Laâm Nso’. His writings explore Cameroonian cultural values and identities. He also writes about colonialism, neo-colonialism and its influence on political structures and cultural dynamism. He holds a doctorate from the Sorbonne University, Paris, France (1988). Kishani is currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Yawunde 1, Cameroon.
