Angessom Isaak was born in 1963 in Eritrea. He is the author of several books of poetry such as: Sewerti Biet Mahbus (1987), Belay Shida (1992) and Zinededet Kara (with Michael Berhe and Ghirmai Yohannes). He served as a public relations and coordinating officer at the Cultural Affairs Burea of the PFDJ. His poem "Freedom's Colors" is considered one of the Eritrea’s greatest post-war poems. Written in Tigrinya, it was published in 1996 from an unpublished book of poetry.
