Flavien Ranaivo was a Madagascan poet and politician whose work drew from Malagasy songs and ballads, specifically the hain-teny form. After working as a journalist for seven years, Ranaivo worked at the Ministry of Education. Like Jean-Joseph Rabearivelo, he adapted traditional Malagasy poetry into French.
